Boling Park is located next to Cherokee High School at 1098 Marietta Hwy, Canton GA. Proceed to the back of the park to the large parking area near the entrance of the gravel walking track.
The running surface varies from flat, wide gravel jogging path to rocky, narrow single track. Mile #2 has significant elevation gain, so trail running shoes are recommended.
Both the Half Marathon and 10K begin at Boling Park in Canton, GA. We have you start on the gravel track and take the quarter mile loop into the trail along side the Boling Park track. As you enter into the next set of trails you will run and over a huge Boy Scout Bridge. You will quickly see a volunteer pointing you to the "Yellow Trail" on your right. The Yellow Trail has the highest elevation. There will be a water station at the top and then you will make a sharp turn to your left running down the "Red Trail" the red trail crosses onto the the "Purple Trail" (but the markings look more like the color pink.) At the end of that trail there will be a volunteer at a bridge on the right and will direct you to go right. That is the "White Trail" that trail will lead to to the first main Aid Station you are at mile 4. You will then continue onto the White Trail. **HERE IS WHERE THE HALF MARATHONERS AND 10K RUNNERS SPLIT**
***10K runners - On the White Trail just after the 4 mile Aid Station you will see a turn around sign...TURN AROUND. Head back to the aid station that you just past and back to the volunteer at the bridge. He will then guide to run along the Etowah River, that will be on your right hand side. There is a course change. After you cross the Boy Scout Bridge you will take a sharp right out onto the back pasture of Boling Park. You do not run back the way you came. You will run to the right on a narrow dirt path and then onto the gravel loop. The Finish Line and Starting Line are at the same place but you finish the opposite way you ran through to start the race.
***Half Marathon Runners - After you pass the mile 4 Aid Station you will continue onto the White Trail. There will be a couple creek crossings. There will be another aid station at mile 6.5. You will continue on turning to the left and run down to the lake. There is a turn around at the lake that will lead you back to aid station and you will be at mile 8.7. Run back the way you came all the way to the first main aid station and that will now be 11.2 miles. Head back to the volunteer at the bridge.
**PLEASE FOLLOW OUR INSTRUCTIONS ON TIMING YOURSELF CORRECTLY. THERE IS A COURSE CHANGE AND IF YOU FINISH TOO EARLY YOU WILL MISS IT AND RUN BACK ON THE TRAIL YOU RAN OUT ON. YOU DO NOT FINISH THE WAY YOU CAME. IF YOU'RE A HARE - REPRESENT! IF YOU'RE A TORTOISE - REPRESENT AND FINISH AT 11AM.** http://www.mcmillanrunning.com calculate here. Are you a Tortoise or a Hare?
